One reason for writing this book is to give honor to Holy Scripture. I wish to defend the orthodox evangelical faith – from its friends as well as from its enemies. A biblicistic literalism that often borders on obscurantism can be as damaging as a biblical latitudinarianism that plays fast and loose with the biblical texts.
